100 Years of Architecture of the New Republic – the Moravian-Silesian Region and Ostrava

This exhibition, which was launched at the Ostrava City Museum on Tuesday, 31 October, presents works of modern architecture made by leading architects working in our region between 1918 and present day. Buildings for this exhibition were selected according to the results of a poll organized in the spring of 2017 in which participated a representative sample of architects, historians and theorists of architecture. Significant buildings of the Moravian-Silesian Region and Ostrava are presented on nearly fifty panels with rich visual material, apt texts and architectural models.

The Ostrava Exhibition is the first of many exhibitions on architecture between 1918 and 2018 which will be launched on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Czechoslovakia also in many other cities next year.

This exhibition was prepared by the publishing house FIOBOS BOOKS and Architecture Centre Kotěrovo with a significant help from Tadeáš Goryczka from the Cabinet of Architecture and the staff of the Ostrava City Museum. We would like to thank councils and assemblies of the Moravian-Silesian Region and of the Statutory City of Ostrava as well as the State Cultural Fund of the Czech Republic for their financial support and cooperation. The exhibition is held under the auspices of Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region Ivo Vondrák and Mayor of Ostrava Tomáš Macura.

The exhibition will last until 30 November 2017.
