As a part of the celebrations of the 750th anniversary of the first written mention of the city of Ostrava, a festive Holy Mass will take place in Masaryk Square on 9 September at 10 am.
The main celebrant will be Ostrava-Opava Bishop Mons. František Václav Lobkowicz, the Holy Mass will also be attended by Katowice Archbishop Emeritus Mons. Damian Zimoń, Auxiliary Bishop of Ostrava-Opava Mons. Martin David, representatives of non-Catholic churches and a number of priests and deacons from Ostrava and its surroundings. The open air Holy Mass will also be attended by representatives of the city and region, representatives of partner cities and of important social institutions of the city.
Part of the Mass will also be a sanctification of the flags of city districts, army, police, firemen and other bodies operating in the territory of the city of Ostrava.
The faithful and the broad public in Ostrava are invited to participate.
The festive Holy Mass will last from 10 to 12 am.
