The Emperor Franz Joseph and Sissi visited Ostrava

The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre joined the celebrations of the 750th anniversary of the first written mention of Ostrava with the event called Visit of the Emperor to Ostrava or this time even Sissi will come!On Saturday, 3 June, it was possible to meet with the two rulers, Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elizabeth of Austria, called Sissi, along the way from the main railway station via the Cathedral of the Divine Saviour, Atlantic Club, Prokeš Square and the New Town Hall to Comenius Park.

The National Theatre took us into the past for one afternoon, specifically into the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Together we remembered the important visit of the emperor to Ostrava in 1906.

The city of Ostrava supported this theatre event with a grant for projects celebrating the 750th anniversary of the first written mention of Ostrava.
