For three summer evenings, Stará Aréna club invites those interested to three interesting places that ‘could be a pride of Ostrava but are not’. Stará Aréna prepared a series of performances named Ostrava Lost, Beloved, Ours on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the first written mention of Ostrava. The first of the performances took place in the city centre on 13 June, the next two will happen on 20 June and 11 July.
The goal and purpose of the project Ostrava Lost, Beloved, Ours is to draw attention of the citizens of Ostrava to places that used to be full of life and got lost during the urbanization in the second half of the 20th century, as well as to show a different dimension of the seemingly ordinary and dull places and corners of the city of Ostrava.
The centre of Ostrava faces long-term problems with depopulation. That is why one of the other goals of the project is to bring theatre into the streets, into the public space and to revive the forgotten places and nooks in the centre of Ostrava.
The city of Ostrava supported this project with a grant for projects celebrating the 750th anniversary of the first written mention of Ostrava.
